Anna herself is one of the most significant female figures in world literature — a sensitive woman who longs for a full life, rebels against everything that confines her, and struggles desperately in the trap of society’s expectations.
The emotionally rich story inspired composer Tibor Kocsák, whose music brings to life the true beauty of Tolstoy’s tale. Over the past decades, the musical has become one of the iconic works of Hungarian musical theatre. In the tempestuous love story of Anna Karenina and Alexei Vronsky, passion and duty collide — and the message of the piece remains timeless.
