It has been 20 years since Mario Biondi’s warm, deep voice first found its way into the hearts of audiences. “This Is What You Are” has since become an iconic track — a contemporary classic of international soul-jazz — and it laid the foundation for Biondi’s worldwide career. The song brought him his breakthrough, after which he collaborated with artists such as Burt Bacharach, Chaka Khan, and Earth, Wind & Fire. Today, he is one of the most successful Italian performers in the world.
Celebrating this milestone, a new version of “This Is What You Are (20th Anniversary)” was recently released, featuring renowned musicians from the international jazz scene, including Dennis Chambers (drums), John Patitucci (bass), Antonio Faraò (piano), Till Brönner (trumpet), and Chase Baird (saxophone), as well as two long-time collaborators, Massimo Greco and Marco Fadda.
Blending jazz, soul, and pop into his refined style, Biondi will mark the 20th anniversary of “This Is What You Are” with a European tour in 2026. Alongside Madrid, Barcelona, Tallinn, and Prague, one of its key stops will be Budapest — on the stage of the Margaret Island Theatre.
