JAZZ & WINE Festival

Concerts and wine tasting

May 22–23–24–25, 2026 (Friday–Saturday–Sunday–Monday)

Margaret Island Theatre – Cloister

Jazz, wine, and culinary experiences at the Margaret Island Theatre, in the courtyard of the Water Tower!

Following the great success of 2024 and 2025, the Hungarian Jazz Federation and the Margaret Island Theatre are organizing the JAZZ & WINE Festival for the third time—one of the most uniquely atmospheric events of the season.

The special festival opens on Friday on the main stage with a concert by a refined master of jazz. Two-time Grammy Award winner Kurt Elling is one of the greatest contemporary figures in jazz.

Saturday evening’s headline concert will feature Mario Biondi. The Sicilian-born singer is currently one of the most popular soul and R&B vocalists in the world.

During the festival, emerging young talents from the Hungarian jazz scene will perform during the day, while on Sunday evening, leading stars of Hungary’s jazz world will give a concert in the Cloister.

Opening hours:

During the event, wineries from Hungary’s six wine regions will present themselves and offer their wines for tasting. Alongside the wines, there will be plenty of wine snacks and specialty cheeses available at the festival.

Ticket price: 3,600 HUF per person (free for under 18, accompanied by an adult)

The ticket includes:

  • a wristband granting entry to the JAZZ & WINE Festival, valid for all days
  • 1 festival glass
  • 20% discount on bottled wines purchased from the wineries
  • free entry to the Water Tower and access to the exhibition
  • The event is free of charge for those holding tickets to the May 22 Kurt Elling concert or the May 23 Mario Biondi concert. Ticket holders can purchase a separate festival glass for tastings at a price of 1,500 HUF each. (Wine tastings at the stands are paid separately.)

The Jazz and Wine Festival, held for the third time, is once again a celebration of the meeting of music and gastronomy, where the flavors of Hungary's outstanding wine regions are combined with a quality jazz experience. True to tradition, the event will provide a venue for the introduction of several Hungarian wine regions, so visitors will be able to taste the country's diverse wine culture in a single location, where all the country's wine regions will be represented for the first time.

The highlight of the 2026 event is the Tokaj Wine Region, whose excellent wineries — the Majoros Estate and Wine Bar, the Espák Winery, the Paunoch Estate, the Harmony (Harmónia) Vineyard, the Mádi A Wine Estate and the Breitenbach Cellar — will bring selected items from their cellars for tasting and purchase. In addition, the Villa Gyetvai and Illés Winery from the Balaton Wine Region, the Gyula Orosz Family Winery from the Upper Pannonian Wine Region, the Kisbaka Family Wine Estate and the Babarczi Vineyard and Cellar, the Nikléczi Gábor Wine Cellar from the Danube Wine Region, the Nap-Völgy Winery and Theme Park from the Upper Hungary Wine Region, and the Vinatus Winery representing the Pannon Wine Region also enrich the offer.

For the second time, the program will be completed by a pálinka presentation and tasting: the award-winning distillates of the Brill Pálinka House will give an insight into the top quality of Hungarian pálinka distillation. The gastronomic experience is completed by wine snacks and cheese specialties, with which the Cheese Angel (Sajtangyal)– Premium Cheese Round is prepared for the guests.

The festival is therefore not only a cultural event, but a complex experience: an encounter with the atmosphere of jazz, the character of excellent wines and gourmet snacks — an ideal opportunity to relax, explore and experience community.

Jazz lovers are invited to a special musical journey on all 4 days of the festival, where both defining and emerging formations of the Hungarian scene will take the stage.

The varied program offers experiences from the delicacies of classical jazz to contemporary sounds, and each concert enriches the event with a unique character and energy.

Among the performers will be Miss Kriss and the Jazz2night formation — Krisztina Gőbölös (vocals), Dr Ákos Dorogi (piano), Róbert Szili (guitar), József Radics (double bass) — who will create the atmosphere of the evening's overture with their elegant, sensitive sound. The Halper Quintet will also take the stage, led by László Halper, with the participation of Zsolt Bér, Gábor Kollmann, Zsolt Kosztyu and János Sramkó, who will represent the spirit of modern jazz with dynamic, improvisational playing.

The sound of the future will be brought by the Tacet Jazz Quintet, a showcase-winning young band, giving a fresh perspective to the genre. During the evening, we can hear Viktor Tóth's band, János Egri Jr.'s trio, and the production of the groove-focused Kuna Tones. István Gyárfás's Cartoon Trio, which presents a playful, creative musical world, and the Horror Monkeys formation led by Árpád Oláh Tzumo, who close the series of experiences with their special sound, contribute to the diversity.
